The links you save, the article text and pictures StowJar downloads, your tags, highlights, notes, reading positions and settings are stored on your device. If iCloud is turned on for StowJar, they also sync through your own private iCloud account so they appear on your other devices. That data is held by Apple under Apple's privacy policy; we have no access to it.
Some things stay on the device where they were made and are not synced: page snapshots, Recently Deleted items (kept for 30 days), reminders, the Spotlight index, the Listen queue and widget data.
StowJar does not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and it does not send any information about you or your reading to us.
Summaries, AI actions, questions you ask about an article or your library, and tag suggestions use Apple's on-device language model. The article text is processed on your device and is not sent to us. Listen uses the voices on your device, including the optional natural voice.
StowJar keeps a short activity record on your device (about the last seven days), such as when Listen switched voices or an article failed to download, so problems can be explained. It holds no article titles, web addresses or highlights, and it never leaves your device on its own. If you use Send Diagnostics in Settings › Help, you see the full report first and send it yourself by email; it includes your app and system versions, library counts, a few settings and that activity record, plus crash reports Apple's system saved on your device. We use it only to answer your message.
stowjar.com doesn't use cookies, analytics or trackers. If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address and message by email and use them only to reply to you (or, if you asked, to tell you when StowJar launches). We don't add you to any other list and we delete messages when they're no longer needed. Ask us any time to delete what you sent.
If you sign up for the StowJar newsletter, we email you a confirmation link, and you're only added after you click it. Once you confirm, our website passes your email address to Hostinger Reach, the email service we send the newsletter with, which stores it for us. We use your address only to send StowJar news, a few times a year, and never sell or share it. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes you off the list straight away. You can also ask us at support@stowjar.com to delete your address.
StowJar doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
You can delete any link, or everything, in the app at any time. Turning off iCloud for StowJar stops syncing. Deleting the app removes its data from that device; data in iCloud can be removed in your device's iCloud settings.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and describe the change on this page.
